Background
Built on 19+ years of production experience
UME was formed around a core belief: software should be built to last, and the people who build it should remain accountable for it. Not only until handover. Indefinitely.
That belief was tested over 19 years of operating a platform serving multiple tenants across UK government departments, major accounting firms, and enterprise businesses. The system never had a security breach. It never needed a full rebuild. It passed every audit it faced.
That experience is the foundation of how we approach every system we build.
How we operate
Senior engineers. Direct communication. Real ownership.
We are a small team of senior engineers. There are no layers of management between you and the people building your system. Communication is direct, decisions are visible, and accountability is genuine.
We take on a limited number of clients at any time so that we can work properly, not spread thin across too many projects.
Senior engineers only
Every engagement is handled by experienced engineers. No juniors on projects delivered as senior work.
Direct communication
You speak to the people building the system. No account managers, no handoffs between sales and delivery.
Genuine ownership
We take responsibility for what we build. If something goes wrong at 2am, we are reachable. We make calm decisions under pressure, not panicked ones.
Structured engagements
Every project has defined scope, defined outcomes, and visible tradeoffs. We do not do open ended engagements with vague deliverables.

Our engineering team is based in South Africa. Our commercial focus spans South Africa and the UK.
